Sky Rocket at Kennywood is the prototype for the Premier Rides LSM Launch Coaster Model. This ride is pretty unique compared to the others in the model. Today, I wanted to give you some tips for riding the ride.
Tip 1: Ride Front Row
Sky Rocket is a front row ride. The forces are similar in both the front and back, but the front is better for a few reasons. First off, there is the wind in your face. Second, the launch feels more forceful. Third, you experience more force during every inversion. Finally is that larger riders don't have to worry as much about leg space.
Tip 2: How to Keep Up the Lap Bar
Keeping up the lap bar is simple. You can keep the bar up by pushing on the shin guards with your legs. If you do this, the lap bar will not go down much during the ride. You can also push up on the grip to prevent the lap bar from going down more. Do both and the lap bar will not go down at all. Do only one and the bar may go down a 1-2 of clicks.
Tip 3: How to Pull Down the Bar
At Kennywood, the policy is basically that whoever gets there first lowers the restraint. If you get to the restraint before the op, pull it down yourself. This is the best scenario. Pull down the lap bar so that it is, at max, 5 clicks above your lap. The op will push it down 1-2 clicks if it is down a reasonable amount. In this case, you'll have a few clicks of extra airtime room.
Tip 4: What about 1 Train Ops?
Riding with 1 train ops is a horrible idea. If the park is running one train, you should never ride the ride unless the park is dead. The ride has 12 people per train and is about a minute. That is a very low capacity, though, if it runs one train. It isn't worth the wait in that case. If you have the credit and it is running one train, don't ride.
Tip 5: Unique Video Angles
If you want unique video angles, just go to the Jack Rabbit Picnic Groves. You can also go between Sky Rocket and Old Mill and you can get some good angles there. Those 2 areas give great angles of the ride.
