Garfield's Nightmare was a dark ride that operated at Kennywood from 2004 to 2019. It originally replaced The Old Mill and was replaced with a modern version of The Old Mill. Today, though, I wanted to give my review of this defunct dark ride.
Part 1: Story
The story on this ride was complete crap. It was literally themed to Garfield having a nightmare. That's it. The story was also poorly told. You could only ever tell what it is about from the name. Story gets a 1/10.
Part 2: Theming
This ride had a lot of theming, but they focused solely on Quantity and not at all Quality. This theming was just awful. It looked horrible. The theming was just poorly made in general. There were also some 3d Glasses that you would have to wear. The 3d glasses did literally nothing on the ride. There were some 3d props, but they were some of the most basic props ever. I have no idea what the designer was thinking when designing the theming. Theming also gets a 1/10.
Part 3: Maintenance
Kennywood does really well maintaining their classic rides, coasters, and most of their dark rides. This ride was not well maintained. Props were not very well painted, random paint seemed to be splattered on all the props, 3d glasses could be seen on the floor, and everything just seemed outdated. Nothing was maintained well and the ride was just poorly done. This gets a 1/10.
Final Score
The final score is pretty obvious: 1/10. I preferred literally every ride in Kiddieland and Thomas Town over this ride. This was the worst ride at Kennywood. They have thankfully brought in the new version of The Old Mill, paying tribute to the old Hard Headed Harold's Horrendously Humorous Haunted Hideaway (Renamed to The Old Mill, the theme that operated from the 1980s to 2003).
