If I Owned Kennywood

Before I get started, I should say that this is based on a series by Xscream Thrills. If this is successful, I'll start doing it for more parks. I want this to be different from the videos by Xscream Thrills, so I will try my best to make this different.

Now, for this, let's give a hypothetical situation: Palace Entertainment goes bankrupt, so Kennywood, Sandcastle, Lake Compounce, and Idlewild are put up for sale. I raise money to buy these 4 parks, and I officially become the owner of the New Kennywood Entertainment Company, starting on January 1st, 2021. This is what I would do as the new owner of Kennywood.

2021

In 2021, there wouldn't be any new additions that weren't already announced. Steelers Experience would officially open on opening day. I would give Phantom's Revenge a repaint and return its original shells for its 20th Anniversary. I would add some solar panels on top of some of the pavillions. I'd also do some basic park upkeep. I would lower the price of new tickets to $45. Senior Discounts would be 10% off and Military Discounts would be 20% off.

In June, I would announce the removal of Raging Rapids. It would close on Labor Day (September 6th) of that year. On the bright side, though, there would be 2 Brand New coasters to replace it: Apocalypse and Revenge of the Rapids. Apocalypse would be an RMC Raptor with a custom layout. This would be a layout meant to interact with Thunderbolt. Revenge of the Rapids would be a Mack Rides Powersplash with a Turntable, like Pulsar at Walibi Belgium.

2022

The park will first open in March. Different rides will be open at different temperatures. The Old Mill, Pittsburg Plunge, and Revenge of the Rapids will not be open until Memorial Day Weekend. The park will be open every weekend in March and April from 1:00 to 8:00 PM. This will hopefully make the park more money. Apocalypse will open for pass holders exclusively from April 9th to Memorial Day.

By this point, most people would probably have had the COVID-19 Vaccine, so we could fully recover from COVID by then. Also, for this year, we would surprise the public by opening back up Paratrooper and Kangaroo. We will have a page to let people donate to the maintenance of the rides here.

For this year, we will start a new event: Kenny's Fall Festival. This will be held on Mondays through Thursdays from 4:00-10:00 PM. This will basically just be Kennywood operating normally, just without the water rides. There would also be nightly Fall Fantasy Parades. This event will co-exist with Phantom Fright Nights and Happy Hauntings.

For Holiday Lights, we will start operating different rides from usual. The rides that may open for our version of the event are the following: All Kiddieland Rides, All Thomas Town Rides, Jackrabbit, Racer, Kangaroo, Paratrooper, Pirate, Wave Swinger, Whip, Ghostwood Estate, Noah's Ark, and Turtle. Racer will have special holiday LED lights and will be, if possible, running the Green and Red trains.

2023

For this year, there will be no new additions to the park. We will be changing the Season Pass system, though, to something called the Kenny Band. This will allow you to pay per ride or buy an all day wristband. This can also be added to an app, and that will allow you to order food, drinks, arcade points, and some merchandise on the app.

There will also be a new system for VIP Coaster Tour. This new system will allow you to skip the line for $15 per flat ride and $25 per coaster. Every time you buy a line skip, the next one will cost 10% more, which will help deter people from doing this an annoying amount. It will now cost $200 for an all day unlimited skip-the-line. If you want to add that to your season pass for unlimited skip the lines all season, that will cost $800.

The Kenny Band will also work at other parks. The app lets you pick parks in the chain. The base Season Pass costs $100 plus $50 per park added. To get a Kenny Band Package that includes Kennywood and Sandcastle, it will only cost $125.

In June, there will be a new, major announcement: Kennywood's Thrill Capital. This expansion will be in the ravine. There will be a skyride, an escalator, stairs, and an elevator to get to this new area. Those ways to get down will be between Racer and Steelers Country. Also, on crowded days, there will be a shuttle. This new expansion will come with a new RMC Ground-Up Hybrid Coaster. It will have a layout similar to Twisted Timbers. The new coaster would be called the Thrill Capital Screamer.

Also in the new area would be the return of Laser Loop. This ride was relocated to La Feria, where it operated until another ride there, Quimera, closed the park down. Laser Loop is currently for sale for $490,000.

More information about the Thrill Capital Screamer: It would be a new RMC iBox/Topper Track Combo Hybrid. Lower Stress sections will use the topper track and higher stress sections will use iBox. This will be focused on ejector airtime. It will have a Barrel Roll Down Drop and tons of airtime hills. This will have the newer generation RMC trains like the ones on Steel Vengeance, Twisted Timbers, Hakugei, Untamed, Iron Gwazi, and Zadra.

The final new ride will be Axis, an S&S Launched Axis. This will be Kennywood's first Inverted Coaster.

2024

For this year, construction would keep going on until May for the new Thrill Capital Area. Then, the rides would start opening over time from Memorial Day to 4th of July. We would focus on opening Laser Loop and Thrill Capital Screamer by Memorial Day. The stores and restaurants would open throughout the rest of the season.

There would be some new restaurants. There would be a new Dunkin Doughnuts (as we'd be keeping Kennywood's Sponsorship from Dunkin Doughnuts). There would be a new sweets shop, and a cafe. There may even be a new bar.

For Holiday Lights, we would have Laser Loop and Thrill Capital Screamer open. For this year, Holiday Lights will start going through the new year. Also, Aero 360 will be open for this Holiday Lights event, now with red and green lights for just the holidays.

2025

The year starts with Holiday Lights, and that goes through February 2nd. The event will be bigger than before.

The normal summer admission will $45 for a single day ticket. Kenny's Fall Fest would cost $30 for admission. Happy Hauntings and Phantom Fright Nights would both be $25 each or, for an all-day pass for Halloween events, it would cost $35. For Holiday Lights, it would cost $30 for admission.

There would be an announcement for the Kenny Flyer. This will be a new-for-2026 Gravity Group Family Coaster. This ride will be located between the Lift and Straight Section on Phantom's Revenge. Some parts may interact with Phantom's queue. This will be a ride that many people would like. It would be a crowd pleaser with ejector airtime throughout the ride and a nice, smooth ride experience. The entire family can ride.

2026

For 2026, Kenny Flyer will open. Work would have started towards the end of the summer season. Footers would have been put in place already and all of the supports would have been build by the new year. By February, the ride will have been completed.

For this year, we will be open every weekend in Winter. You can ride rides that can currently operate that are not being worked on at that time. The periods from February to April will be more of days when some rides will be open. This will mostly be for technical rehearsal, but you can pay 25% less if you are doing pay per ride. This is going to be a "Hey, we have to do technical rehearsal and we have to take this stuff down from Holiday Lights anyway, so we may as well do be partially open, too. We can make money to get more attractions, people can ride some flat rides or Steel Coasters, and everyone has a fun time." kind of thing.

For this year, there will be some solar panels added to pavilions and some ride stations to save on some electric costs. The idea there is that the solar panels can generate electricity over time, and it can save us thousands. Also, there will be new investments in shuttles that can take biofuels, biodiesel, and use regular electricity. The idea there is that it can be better for the environment. The new investments here can save money and/or the environment. There will also be some modifications to Kennyville during this time, adding new brick paths and planting more trees during this time. This would also include giving Thunderbolt and Turtle some repaints and keeping up the repaint on Phantom's Revenge. If we add more trees, then that can cut back on more of the park's carbon footprint.

There would be a new ride announced for the 2027 season: Family Racer. This new addition will be in the Thrill Capital area of the park. It would be based on Racer for the 100th anniversary of Racer. This new coaster would be a modern family wooden coaster. It would reuse Racer's current trains (More on that in the next part of this). This ride would be produced by Great Coasters International. This would be a sign of all Kennywood is about: Classic Attractions mixed with Modern Thrills.

2027

This would be the 100th anniversary of Racer. To celebrate, some major things will be done. Those would include the following:

-Restoring the Original Racer Trains from 1927 by the Dayton Funhouse Company

-Repainting the entire ride with a new color scheme

-Retracking rough sections of the ride

-Restoring the "Don't Stand Up" sign to look new again

-Bringing back certain parts of the layout that were changed.

During this year, a new storage facility would have been built near the Thrill Capital area, meaning that they would move everything to down there, allowing there to be space for a dueling GCI behind Racer. This ride would open with the current PTC Buzz Bar trains that Racer Operates with, just with some modifications from PTC to make it better for a family wooden coaster.

Family Racers will finish being built in late January, start testing soon after, and will open to Passholders in March. It will open to the public in May.

When Racer reopens for this year, it will have the restored original trains from when it first opened. The park will have spent money refurbishing these long abandoned trains to a point that they can run again. The park will have PTC do some work to make these trains work. but most of the work will still be done by the park.

When Family Racers opens, it will be a ride that, hopefully, many people will want to go to. It will be a very popular family friendly ride, and people won't know what happened, after they get off.

In June of 2027, there will be a very special announcement: We will have bought land past Thrill Capital, and we will have built an Indoor Water Park and a Hotel. These will be based on the plans from 2006 that were scrapped. This water park will only be open on weekends, which is being done to make people still go to Sandcastle in the summer. If Sandcastle loses business, though, then Sandcastle will be relocated here. The Hotel will be owned and operated by Kennywood: Like how Conneaut Lake Park owns and operates Hotel Conneaut.

In this year, the new Family Racers will be opened for Holiday Lights. It will have all kinds of multi-color LEDs around that will be red and green for the holidays. I would also add new Holiday Parades this year, making more people want to go. We will have fireworks in the end.

2028

At the beginning of the year, people will notice how far construction is in on the Kenny Hotel. The hotel would have been half built and the water park would be mostly done by now. The Hotel and Water Park would be done by July.

The hotel will open on July 1st, 2028. There would be copies of many old photos throughout the hotel. The indoor water park will be really nice, and it would be included with a Kennywood or Sandcastle Season Pass.

For this year, we would push people to start signing up for our Member Rewards Program for Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum Passes. This would mean that they would spend more money to get more points. I would also lower the cost of Cabanas and Pavilions so that people would be more willing to rent them.

For this year, we would want to start honoring the past attractions of the park some. We would make benches with the shells from Steel Phantom. Turnpike Cars would be put around the park. Finally, some Steel Phantom track will be used to create a small Public Park that would have areas to advertise. This would free up space in storage, be a good use of things we could get rid of, and could even give people nostalgia. This would be a great decision.

The Hotel would be open year round, making people want more likely to spend money year round. We would lower prices for the hotel around the holidays so that more people would want to go on vacation or visit family in Pittsburgh. We would include more bundles that would allow you to save money without us losing money.

For Holiday Lights, there would be more things than 2027. For 2028, we will have the new Indoor Water Park open. People who buy a ticket to Holiday Lights can go to the Water Park. For this year, there will also be another new Holiday event: Kenny's Kristmas Wonderland. This will be a family friendly Christmas event open during the day. This would be $40 for tickets, but you only have to pay $5 more for Holiday Lights admission. The raise in price is for convenience. There would be some lights and characters going around the new event. More rides could be open. The main idea is that more rides can be open since it would be warmer during the day.

During this new event, the following rides will also be open if weather permits:

-Cosmic Chaos

-Skyrocket

-Swing Shot

-Phantom's Revenge

-Steel Curtain

-Thunderbolt

-Apocalypse

-Kenny Flyer

-Laser Loop

There would be more decorations this year. On Sundays, all Seniors will get 75% off Winter Holiday tickets. All military veterans and active service members get to go for only $5, which will get them to both events. The idea there is to attract more older guests and show our support for the people who want to fight for our country,

2029

For this year, we will have a normal season, but one new announcement will be made: The Current form of Exterminator will be leaving. The ride is now 30, and it has reached the end of its service life. There will be final rides.

A new version of the ride will open. This will be from Reverchon, so a clone. It will have a newer theme, improved capacity, better theming in the queue, the return of a pre-show, new effects, and a more comfortable ride experience. The original trains will be turned into benches nearby. Some modifications will be made to the surrounding area to make room for expansions.

By now, the entirety of the indoor water park will be open. We will have many slides, 2 water play areas, water games for people in wheelchairs, and a boardwalk setting.

This year will be pretty small, but it will be important. It would mean some improvements to one of the most popular attractions, finishing up previous additions, and making expansion of the park possible.

In June, a new announcement will be made. We will have been adding tons of new additions during this time, and it has payed off. We have added new rides, improved the park overall, made everything look better, and making it so we are open more frequently, making more profits possible. Now, it is time for out largest addition yet: Silver Streak.

Silver Streak will be 350 feet tall, will go 105 Miles Per Hour, and will have 10,000 feet of track. This will be B&M's Largest Coaster. All of these new rides will hopefully make more people want to go, and a giga will be just what the park needs. It will be marketed as Pennsylvania's Tallest and Fastest coaster and the world's longest coaster. This will be meant to attract extreme crowds for 2030. Construction will start immediately. It will have certain points that will go through the original Storage building in the ravine. This will be a unique giga layout. It will have low-to-the-ground sections, tons of airtime, moments of Positive Gs, a smooth ride experience, and it will be a super high capacity thrill ride. It will be a huge people-pleaser.

2030

When the park opens for the main season in March, it will be noted how this massive coaster, which is completely built in a ravine and on a mountain, can be seen from all around Kennywood. In March, the ride will have opened to Passholders. People will start riding it and will love it. People will just want to keep riding it. People who want to get a line skip will have to pay $50 per skip.

Silver Streak will be a massive new addition, and it will be the largest ride I will add. This ride will be one of the most popular coasters ever.

I hope you enjoyed this, and I hope that you read more of these articles. Thanks for reading.
