For a while, now, Cedar Fair has sold a Platinum Season Pass. This pass gets you into every Cedar Fair Park and includes free parking, discounts, and a FastLane Upgrade. Today, I wanted to see if the pass is worth it.
Now, for this, I am going to include the All Season Drinks and Dining Pass. If we look at Dorney Park, which has some good deals for add-ons. The base pass is $202. The Dining Plan from Dorney Park is $89. The drink plan is $33. The Season Pass with everything is $324.
We are going to be looking at just the Dry Parks, and we won't be looking at Gilroy Gardens. We are just looking at the prices at the major parks. This also won't include Canada's Wonderland because it uses a different currency. This is sorted in Alphabetical Order:
-At California's Great America, a ticket is $35. Parking is $20. This comes out to $55.
-At Carowinds, a ticket is $40. Parking is $16. this comes out to $56.
-At Cedar Point, a ticket is $40. Parking is $20. This comes out to $60.
-At Dorney Park, a ticket is $35. Parking is $18. This comes out to $53
-At King's Dominion, a ticket is $35. Parking is $17. This comes out to $52.
-At Kings Island, a ticket is $42. Parking is $17. This comes out to $69.
-At Knott's Berry Farm, a ticket is $55. Parking is $20. This comes out to $75
-At Michigan's Adventure, a ticket is $30. Parking is $15. This comes out to $45.
-At Valleyfair, a Ticket is $30. Parking is $14. This comes out to $44.
-At Worlds of Fun, a ticket is $35. Parking is $17. This comes out to $52.
Here are the total prices:
-If you add $35, $40, $40 $35, $35, $42, $55, $30, $30, and $35, you get $347.
-If you add $20, $16, $20, $18, $17, $17, $20, $15, $14, and $17, you get $174.
-If you add $347 and $174, you get a combined total of $521.
-This means that it is saving you $319.
Next, let's look at the drink plan. Cedar Fair doesn't seem to publish Drink Prices online, so I am just going to make a guess based on some competitors to their parks. I'm just going to say that drink refills are $1 each. For this, we will say that you are using the Disposable Cup option so that you don't have to carry around a souvenir bottle. We'll also say that you get 5 refills per day.
If you go to each park one time, that means that you will spend 10 days at parks. If that is the case and you are spending $5 per day, that means it is worth $50. At Dorney Park, the drink plan is $33, so it is saving you $17.
Next, I want to talk about meals. At a Cedar Fair Park, they sell 1 meal for $15. If you get 2 meals per day at a Cedar Fair Park with the dining plan, that is $30 per visit. For 10 visits, this is worth $300. The Dining Plan costs $89, so the Dining Plan saves you $211.
Finally, I want to talk about FastLane. For this, we are only looking at the parks where you probably would need it. Those parks would be California's Great America, Carowinds, Cedar Point, Kings Island, and Knott's Berry Farm. Here are the prices:
-At California's Great America, a FastLane costs around $70
-At Carowinds, a FastLane Plus costs $70.
-At Cedar Point, a FastLane Plus costs $65
-At Kings Island, a FastLane Plus costs $70.
-At Knott's Berry Farm, a FastLane costs $70.
If you are getting the Platinum FastLane Plus Plan from Cedar Point, it will cost you $775. This means that, if you only go to each of these parks once, it will not be worth the cost. It totals to $345. This will only be worth it if a Cedar Fair park is your home park or if you visit these Cedar Fair parks multiple times.
In conclusion, most of the Cedar Fair Platinum Prices are worth it, just get most of the add-ons from Dorney Park. If you want good value, only get the FastLane Plus plan if you plan on visiting the parks multiple times each.
