Jackrabbit (Kennywood) Review (2020)

Updated: Dec 7, 2020

Kennywood has 3 classic wooden coasters. These rides are all fun, and they make Kennywood into Kennywood. I want to start reviewing all of these rides. I want to start with their oldest coaster: Jackrabbit. Despite opening 100 years ago, Jackrabbit is still a fun ride that the whole family can enjoy.

Part 1: Appearance

Kennywood does a good job keeping Jackrabbit looking good all year. I'm just gonna give it a 10/10. Jackrabbit is one of their best looking coasters.

Part 2: Trains

Jackrabbit has the best trains out of all of the coasters at Kennywood. They have just a seatbelt and a grab bar. The seatbelt was only added in the 1980's. Jackrabbit's grab bar is so minimal that it can't even be called a buzz bar: It is so much less than just a buzz bar. It is a single position lap bar that is always down. This ride is very fun, and that is mostly because of the lap bars. These trains get a 10/10.

Part 3: Airtime

This ride is known for one main reason: The airtime on the double down. On the double down, you get strong, sustained ejector in every row. In the back row, you get airtime on many of the drops, too. The only issue with the back row is the small rough patch at the bottom of the double down. Airtime gets a 10/10. There may not be much airtime, but the airtime there is may be some of the strongest airtime in the world, based on things I've heard.

Part 4: Smoothness

This ride is mostly smooth. As I said before, there is a rough spot at the bottom of the double down, but that is not too rough. That spot left me with a headache, but only for around 5 minutes. In general, this gets an 8/10.

Part 5: Operations

Jackrabbit has good operations. It uses the final brakes as an unloading area, so there is technically a loading and unloading side of the station. This can increase capacity. They can't staple if they wanted too. Operations get a 10.

Final: The final score comes out to 9.6/10. I would give it an 8/10 personally. It's a fun ride, but not as good as the other rides there.
