Kennywood 20 Year Predictions (Part 4: 2036-2040)

Welcome to the final part of my 20 Year Predictions for Kennywood. If you haven't already, please go check out my other 3 articles in this series. Now, let's get to my predictions.

2036:

As I said in my last article, I think that they will focus on just park improvements. This will mainly be in the Racer Midway area, I think. They will probably do more path work, repaint Racer and Steel Curtain, and potentially update what is currently Racer Refills.

In the early parts of the year, I think that there will be noticed Land Clearing behind Turtle and by Phantom's Revenge. There will also be new Footers seen there. This will be for a new coaster. Turtle will be temporarily closed for a couple weeks for construction. Because of the support types seen, we will know that this is an Inverted coaster, which Kennywood is really lacking.

In August, we will hear the official announcement: Phantom Flyer. This will be a Vekoma Suspended Thrill Coaster. This will include just lap bars for a restraint. I'm unsure if this ride would more likely be a clone of Hals-über-Kopf or an original layout. Vekoma is known to do cloned rides that happen to be getting much better. Considering that Kennywood's last clone, though, was in 1999, I doubt they will add another one. Palace Entertainment tends to add original rides, too. Their last clone was Phobia Phear Coaster, which was the 3rd Sky Rocket II in the US.

The ride will finish construction by the end of September and will be testing starting in October. The ride, if certain conditions are met, may even have a Season Passholder Preview event at Holiday Lights.

2037:

In 2037, Kennywood's Newest coaster will open on Memorial Day Weekend. Phantom Flyer will be a popular coaster and will draw in larger crowds. Because of things like Shipping Costs, though, the ride will be pretty expensive. For this reason, the park will not be spending as much money on new rides soon after. Instead, they will add smaller, cheaper attractions that can still give a good ride experience.

There will be no new construction for a 2038 coaster. The park will instead focus on improving the park.

2038:

In this year, we will finally learn what the park improvements are. The park will work on improving the food and appearance of the park. Restaurants like Small Fry, Potato Patch, Pizza Warehouse, Golden Nugget, Snack-o-Saurus, and Midway will get an updated appearance. Furthermore, Snack-o-Saurus, Parkside Cafe, and Pizza Warehouse will get more food options. Pizza Warehouse will get more toppings for Pizza. The other 2 restaurants I mentioned will get completely new menu items. Finally, I think that End Zone Cafe will start offering either Impossible or Beyond Burgers.

The park will look a lot better. The food will really improve, too.

Later in the year, we will get an announcement. There will be a 5 ride contract with Zamperla.

Soon afterwards, 2 rides will be announced. These will be an Endeavour and an Air Race. These will both be for 2039.

2039:

For Memorial Day Weekend, we will get the 2 new rides from Zamperla. These will be fun, low cost, low footprint rides. They will probably be pretty successful.

Later in the year, another 3 rides will be announced from Zamperla.

The next 3 rides will be a Big Wavez, a Giant Sky Chaser, and another model that will be something that Zamperla doesn't currently offer. These will be right near the other 2 new rides.

At the end of the year, there will be the announcement of 1 ride removal. This will be Pittsburg Plunge. The ride will be over 40 at this point and will need to be replaced. This is where we will see the Big Wavez built, too. The ride will be replaced ASAP to allow for Kennywood to still have a water ride.

2040:

This is the final year of my 20 year prediction plan for Kennywood. I think that the Giant Sky Chaser and the unknown model will open in Spring 2040. The Big Wavez ride will open in Mid June, as it is a water ride and they will want to wait til it is very hot out before they open a water ride. This also allows for them to have more time to remove Pittsburg Plunge, build the new ride, and test the new ride.

The park will not start construction on any new rides for 2041. I am also not doing any more predictions for this article, though, so I won't talk about any new-for-2041 rides.

The 2 new non-water rides will be open for the fall events. Depending on weather, they may also be open in the winter.

Thank you for checking out this series. I hope you enjoyed it. Please consider returning here soon.
