Recently, Kennywood's ride removals made me think that they may be getting a new coaster in 2022 or, maybe, 2023. I wanted to start a check every month to see where this new project's progress may be.
This is being written on Tuesday, February 2nd, 2021, just so you know.
As of right now, all the evidence of a new coaster is just related to their historical decisions. In the past, they would remove a beloved classic ride with a somewhat large plot of land. They would then add a new coaster there from a cheaper manufacturer.
As of now, there are no plans for new coasters there. According to CivicCentral, Kennywood does not have any Planning applications right now. There are also not any Building Permits at Kennywood right now.
Currently, I am unaware of any track at the park.
Some people reported seeing Raptor track at the RMC facility right now. I have seen no evidence of this yet, but if this is true, then it could be for a Kennywood raptor. People think that it is for Six Flags Magic Mountain, but I think that SFMM would be getting an Intamin Mega Coaster, not an RMC Raptor.
I should state that, from what I've heard, the park will work with manufacturers to plan a new ride. The layouts that a park likes will be proposed, and if it is approved, the park will then start work on the ride.
As of right now, if there is a major new coaster being built, it would probably still be in the stage of working with a manufacturer to have a new ride built.
If there is a new ride to be built, I would guess either a Gerstlauer Family Coaster, like Rewind Racers at Adventure City, or an RMC Raptor. If it is the Raptor, I think it would either be a clone of the Prototype models or would have a similar layout. If it were the Gerstlauer Family Coaster, I have no idea what they would get.
