As of last month, RMC's first coaster turned 10 years old. Today, I wanted to go over my predictions for the future of RMC.
First, there is one thing that I want to go over. I think that the last 10 years of RMC were made up of just prototypes. This includes the coasters opening later this year (please note that I am writing this on May 4th, 2021).
Let me quickly explain what I mean. Here are why I consider all of these a prototype of sorts:
-New Texas Giant was the literal testing of the iBox Track.
-Outlaw Run was testing the RMC Trains and Inversions on an RMC.
-Iron Rattler was testing Inversions on an RMC Conversion
-Medusa Steel Coaster tested the Barrel Roll Down Drop.
-Goliath started the Zero G Stall and the Steel Lift/Support Structure
-Twisted Colossus tested a Dueling RMC plus more testing on the Zero G Stall.
-Wicked Cyclone showed that they could have good forces despite bad pacing.
-Storm Chaser showed that they could convert coasters with steel supports.
-Joker tested the Step-Up-Under-Flip, the Pre-Lift, and the Twisted Drop.
-Lightning Rod tested the idea of a Launched Wooden Coaster.
-Wildfire showed that they were willing to work with outside companies in other countries. It also further tested the Steel Lift/Stall Structure.
-Twisted Timbers was the prototype for the 2nd Generation RMC Trains.
-Steel Vengeance tested the 2nd Gen Trains and was the prototype Hyper Hybrid.
-Wonder Woman and Railblazer proved the concept of the Raptor.
-Twisted Cyclone introduced the Reverse Cobra Roll.
-Hakugei and Untamed proved that they could RMC coasters in different continents.
-Zadra was RMC's first Ground-Up Hybrid and the first Hybrid with their Steel Lift/Stall Supports.
-Jersey Devil proves that they can build a large scale raptor.
-Iron Gwazi proves that they are willing to use the Steel Structure on a Conversion.
-Stunt Pilot proves that they are planning to increase the capacity of the Raptors.
Now, I want to go over things I see happening with new RMC Coasters.
Something I see happening is RMC building more ground-up hybrids, but I see them doing things to save on costs. The main thing is regarding the Topper Track. I think that track in the station, pre-lift, lift, low stress areas of the ride, brakes, and transfer tracks will always use the Topper Track. In higher stress areas of the ride, iBox track will probably be used. This can probably save on costs, since wood is much cheaper than Steel.
Furthermore, I see RMC creating more coaster models. I see them working on Single Railed Inverts and Flying Coasters. These can be well liked coasters and I think these will sell well if RMC sells them. Parks can start getting very affordable inverted and flying coasters.
Something I see happening soon will also be an RMC Raptor Gen 2 Train type. This will have an over-head lap bar (Similar to what Mack Rides, Intamin, and S&S Worldwide have made in the past). These will be much more comfortable than the current train design. I also see them working on the train designs to make them able to go through tighter turns, allowing for some of the most compact coasters in the world.
I also do see a Gen 3 RMC Hybrid Train. When designing the new over-head lap bar for the Raptors, I see this coming to new trains. At the same time, RMC will probably work on making the trains lighter and making them able to go through even tighter turns.
The new trains should be a major improvement to the old trains if implimented.
Finally, I want to talk about when I see these coming.
First, let's go over the new Inverted/Flying Raptor idea. I see this coming around 2024.
Let's also quickly go over the Topper Track iBox Mix rides. I see these being built immediately. This would be a cost cutting measure that would be put in place because of COVID, so this would be done soon.
Finally, let's go over the new trains. RMC introduced the Gen 1 trains in 2013. They introduced the Gen 2 Trains in 2018. Next, I see them introducing the Gen 3 trains on a new for 2023 ride. Where will this ride go? I think it will be an RMC Conversion of either Roar at Six Flags America, Boss at Six Flags St. Louis, or Legend at Holiday World. Those rides are brought up frequently as RMC Candidates, so I see this happening soon.
With the Gen 2 Raptor Trains, I see them coming slightly sooner. People find the Shoulder Straps painful, so this problem should be addressed soon. I am going to tie this to my ongoing prediction of Kennywood getting a new for 2022 Raptor, this being a clone of Stunt Pilot at Silverwood.
In conclusion, I think that RMC will start making more types of coasters using their current track designs. They'll also likely work with Topper Track in their Coaster Conversions and I think they'll start making new train designs and these will include a consistent over-head lap bar design for all their new coasters. They'll focus a lot on making their trains more comfortable and make their airtime even better.
