There are several amusement parks that I want to get to in the near future. I've already made 2 articles about both Wood and Steel Coasters. Today, though, I'm going to talk about parks I want to get to.
To keep this realistic, I will not be including ANY parks outside of North America. This will only be a list of US parks, as the goal is to get to the parks within 5 years from now. Also, please note that most of these are in no particular order. They are just parks I want to get to soon.
Here are some honorable mentions:
-Fun Spot Orlando
-Fun Spot Kissimmee
-Fun Spot Atlanta
-Lakemont Park
-Knoebels
-Dorney Park
-Nickelodeon Universe Theme Parks
-Legoland Parks
-Coney Island's Parks
-Park at OWA
-SeaWorld San Diego
-Busch Gardens Williamsburg
-Busch Gardens Tampa
Now, let's get to the top 15.
#15: Six Flags Great Adventure
This park is known for several coasters. They have rides like Kingda Ka and El Toro. They are also opening Jersey Devil Coaster in 2021, so that is something to look forward to. Supporting coasters that I think I'd enjoy would also include Batman the Ride, Bizarro, Superman Ultimate Flight, Nitro, Joker, Green Lantern, and Skull Mountain. Combine those with a pretty good flat ride lineup and I think you'll see why I want to go here.
#14: Six Flags St. Louis
Despite this park being considered to be the worst Six Flags park, I want to go here a little more than I want to go to Great Adventure. This park has a well rounded coaster lineup. Mr. Freeze: Reverse Blast looks like an excellent launch coaster. Ninja looks like a really rough but still enjoyable multi-looper. Batman the Ride looks like a fun, intense clone. The boss looks like a rough but intense thrill coaster that I think I'd love. American Thunder looks like a really good GCI wooden coaster. Screamin' Eagle is a classic wooden coaster, and I love classic wooden coasters more than the average coaster enthusiast (I even rank Racer ahead of Sky Rocket at Kennywood).
#13: Waldameer
This park isn't very well rounded, but I would still love to come here. Ravine Flyer 2 and Comet are enough to make me want to go. Steel Dragon also looks like lots of fun.
#12: Worlds of Fun
I want to go here for multiple reasons. The coaster lineup here is pretty well rounded, as it really just needs a launch coaster. Timber Wolf looks like an ok wooden coaster. Prowler looks like an excellent ride. Mamba looks like a fun hyper. Patriot looks quite intense. There are also some people I know who grew up going here and another park later on the list, and that makes me interested in these parks.
#11: SeaWorld San Antonio
This, to me, looks like the second best SeaWorld Branded park. There appear to be great rides. Great White is a good looking, though poorly named, Batman the Ride Clone. Steel Eel looks like a fun, airtime packed Morgan Mini Hyper. Based on my experiences on Phantom's Revenge, I can tell that this is probably going to be a great coaster and I think I'll love it. Texas Stingray looks like a smooth wooden coaster with good airtime and laterals. Wave Breaker the Rescue Coaster looks like a really fun family coaster. I really want to go here after the pandemic.
#10: Six Flags Fiesta Texas
This looks like the most immersive Six Flags Branded Park. Other than the great looking theming, I think that Iron Rattler and Wonder Woman Golden Lasso Coaster both look like good rides. I wouldn't even be surprised if Wonder Woman Golden Lasso Coaster would make my top 10 coasters overall. Other than that, you have Superman Krypton Coaster, Goliath, and Pandemonium to help support the top 2.
#9: Knott's Berry Farm
Knotts looks like a really fun, immersive experience. Ghostrider looks like one of the best roller coasters in the world. Xcellerator looks to have a pretty intense launch. Hangtime looks to have most forces enthusiasts like, though it doesn't appear to have much actual hangtime. Silver Bullet also looks like a lot of fun. Knott's Berry Farm also appears to have some really good food and good shows. Montezooma's Revenge is also nearly identical to a defunct Kennywood coaster that I wish I could have ridden. 0
#8: Six Flags Mexico
Six Flags Mexico looks like the best park in the Six Flags chain. I've always thought that RMC coasters look overrated, but I will say that Medusa Steel Coaster looks like a great RMC. There is also Superman el Último Escape, a Morgan Hyper that is praised around as much as Phantom's Revenge. Phantom is one of my favorite coasters in general, so I can't wait to ride Superman el Último Escape. Other than that, they have other rides that look like fun, including a Vekoma SLC, a Gerstlauer Spinner, and an S&S 4d Freespin. They also have a Boomerang, though it runs with Arrow trains, and they have 2 kid friendly coasters.
#7: Canada's Wonderland
Canada's Wonderland appears to be a really underrated park in the Cedar Fair chain. People seem to respect it, but don't really talk about that great ride lineup. Many of the coasters are only decent, according to many, but the park also appears to have a Flat Ride collection better than Kennywood, and that is pretty impressive. Leviathan looks like one of B&M's best coasters overall. Yukon Striker looks like a really fun Dive Coaster.
#6: Dollywood
Dollywood looks like an amazing park, and they are doing everything they can to improve. Mystery Mine and Lightning Rod were both partially retracked for 2021, for example. Wildwood Grove looks like a great family area. Dollywood looks very well themed, and I can't wait to visit here in the (hopefully) near future.
#5: Hersheypark
Fun Fact: I was planning on going here in 2020. Plans got cancelled due to COVID-19, though. I was excited for Storm Runner, Great Bear, Fahrenheit, and Candymonium. Skyrush does look very painful, though. I was hoping that Sooperdooperlooper would be my first coaster with a vertical loop. Sadly, I never got to go. That is why it is still a new park for me that I want to get to soon.
#4: SeaWorld Orlando
This looks like the best SeaWorld Branded park. It has so many animals that just seem adorable. Mako looks like an okay hyper coaster. Manta looks like lots of fun. Kraken looks like a really good looper. I personally think, though, that my favorite ride there will be the new for 2021 Ice Breaker. Sky Rocket at Kennywood is very similar to Ice Breaker, and I think that, similar to Sky Rocket, Ice Breaker will have strong ejector airtime in the back rows. The extra car will allow for stronger airtime, I think. The airtime hills are taken at a faster speed than Sky Rocket's, so I expect them to have better airtime.
#3: Silver Dollar City
For this, take everything good about the theming I mentioned from Dollywood. Then, improve on it in every way and give it an old Western theme with Cave Tours and better rides. I just described Silver Dollar City. Some people in my family actually grew up going here (like I mentioned with Worlds of Fun). I really want to get out here for Outlaw Run, which looks better than Steel Vengeance, Time Traveler, which looks amazing in general, and Powder Keg, a well themed and very fun looking launch coaster.
#2: Kings Island
I want to get out here so bad. Mystic Timbers looks like a top 5 coaster in the world. Beast looks like an underappreciated coaster that journeys through the woods. Orion and Diamondback look like decent rides. Banshee looks like an intense and fun invert. Other than those, you have a bunch of fun looking coasters that just don't look like they are that great. There also doesn't seem to be a major Stand Out coaster at this park, so that is really why it ranks only at #2.
#1: Cedar Point
I really want to get here. It is only a few hours away and is, in fact, the second closest park to drive to (for me) that makes this list. There are 17 roller coasters here. They all look like either great, modern thrill rides or classic, overlooked rides. Steel Vengeance definitely looks overrated, but it still looks enjoyable before the jerky looking parts. I hope to get here really soon.
I hope you enjoyed the article. Please come back to read my articles on every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 3:00 PM Eastern.
