Pittsburg Plunge at Kennywood - Review (Early 2021)

Pittsburg Plunge is a Hopkins Flume ride at Kennywood. This is a ride that I personally love. I want to just give my review of this ride.

Now, for this, I am going off of a slight modification to my Roller Coaster Review System. I will be changing "Forces" to "Water Interactivity" for this, though, since the ride isn't meant for forces.

Part 1: Water Interactivity

On this ride, you will get soaked. There used to be a way to not be completely drenched. There is no longer a way to not be completely drenched. The water also goes onto some pathways in certain areas, allowing for non-riders to still get soaked. I'm giving this a perfect 10 for water interactivity.

Part 2: Smoothness

This ride is completely smooth. The ride has no rough patches. It gets a perfect 10/10 for smoothness. This is honestly surprising considering it is a Hopkins ride that partially runs with Wooden Side Friction boards.

Part 3: Restraints

These restraints are just designed to be something to grab onto. They're basically a buzz bar, but the bar is further above your lap. There are no seatbelts on the ride. These restraints get a 10/10.

Part 4: Operations

Operations on this ride aren't that great. Luckily, it doesn't matter much. The ride moves slowly after the splash which means that there will be plenty of time to check restraints. The bad news, though, is that guests can't fasten their own restraints. These are only locked with something the operator has to fasten. This also leads to varying dispatch times. I have been stacked on the brake run of the ride because of guests being almost too large to ride. One upside, though, is that they want everyone to be able to ride if they are tall enough. The operators were determined to get that group on and they did. Despite how long it took, it was good to know that they want guests of all sizes to have fun. Operations get an 8/10. They are generally not bad, but they don't deserve a perfect 10.

Part 5: Appearance

This ride looks amazing. The splash effect is beautiful on both the inside and outside. The ride also is pretty well hidden for the parts that don't look the best. They seem to always focus on repainting this ride every year, since the ride still looks great. Overall, for appearance, it gets a 10/10.

Final Score:

For the final score, this ride gets a 9.6/10. I should make it clear that I don't consider this a perfect ride. I consider this a perfect chute the chute or water flume ride.

I hope you enjoyed. Please consider reading more of my articles and I hope to see you all later. Bye.
