SwingShot is an S&S Screamin' Swing at Kennywood. This is my second favorite Non-Coaster ride at Kennywood. Today, I wanted to give my review of the ride.
First, let's talk about the restraints. The restraint is a lap bar. These restraints come down from the side and then get pushed down. It is an unusual restraint, but it is pretty comfortable. I think that these restraints are also used on every other Screamin Swing and are also on Powder Keg. The restraints are comfortable, but you get stapled pretty easiy. The retraint doesn't go down during the ride, though.
Now, I want to talk about the beginning of the ride. On Black Widow, the beginning is boring. SwingShot isn't like that. Screamin Swings actually don't run on Gravity. They are completely powered by Compressed Air. This makes the beginning of the ride pretty forceful. This makes the beginning of the ride fun and it allows it to speed up much faster than Black Widow.
Next, I want to talk about the main ride experience. This ride is fantastic for many reasons.
When the ride stalls for a couple seconds when swinging, you get airtime. You also, on this ride, get good views. Depending on where you sit, you either get a view of the queue or a view of the Lost Kennywood Midway. That is my preferred side, but the ride is still good on both side.
In the valleys, the ride is very forceful. Each moment includes sustained positive g force, and it is very fun.
Now, I want to give my final rating. I would give this ride an 8/10. This is a great ride, but it is just too short. If it was even half the ride cycle of Black Widow, this would be the best flat ride in the park, but it is too short to be the #1 flat ride in the park.
